Reported UFO flight behavior includes sudden direction changes at high speed, no visible propulsion, and no sonic boom even at speeds that should produce one. Navy pilots who filmed the Tic Tac and GoFast encounters described exactly this kind of behavior.
Term: G-force: a measure of acceleration relative to gravity. Sharp turns at high speed produce g-forces that would kill a human pilot in a piloted aircraft.
Term: Sonic boom: the loud noise produced when an object exceeds the speed of sound, expected from any known craft moving as fast as some UFO reports describe.
What Makes UFO Technology Appear Impossible?
Reported UFO flight behavior includes sudden direction changes at high speed, no visible propulsion, and no sonic boom even at speeds that should produce one. Navy pilots who filmed the Tic Tac and GoFast encounters described exactly this kind of behavior. No aircraft built by any known nation can do what these reports describe, which is part of why the reports draw serious attention rather than being waved off.
What pilots have reported
In the 2004 Nimitz encounter, Navy pilots described an object that dropped from about 80,000 feet to near sea level in seconds and then matched the speed of an F/A-18 jet before accelerating away faster than the jet could follow. AARO's own review of the GoFast video concluded that the apparent extreme speed in that particular case likely came from parallax, an optical effect of the camera's motion, not the object's actual speed. Not every case has been explained that way, and pilots in other encounters, including the Nimitz case, have described behavior AARO has not resolved as an optical effect.
Why the reported physics is a problem
A sharp turn at high speed produces g-forces that would destroy a piloted aircraft and kill a human pilot. Sudden, silent acceleration to very high speeds should produce a sonic boom, and witnesses in several cases report none. No visible exhaust, wings, or engines appear in most reports, which rules out conventional propulsion as we understand it.
What ordinary explanations can and cannot cover
Camera and sensor effects, such as parallax, can explain some of the extreme numbers reported in specific cases, as AARO's GoFast analysis shows. Radar and infrared systems can also produce false or exaggerated readings under certain conditions. These explanations do not cover every case, particularly ones with multiple independent sensors and visual confirmation from trained pilots.
What this does and does not prove
That the reported behavior does not match known human technology is well documented in cases with strong sensor and eyewitness support. That the behavior comes from an intelligently controlled craft, rather than a sensor error or an unusual natural phenomenon, is not established. Extraordinary flight characteristics are consistent with several different explanations, and I do not treat impossible-seeming physics alone as proof of anything.
What is solid and what is not
Pilot testimony describing extreme flight characteristics is documented in official Navy and Pentagon reports. AARO's own analysis has resolved some of the more dramatic numbers as sensor artifacts. Cases that remain unresolved after that kind of scrutiny are the strongest evidence for something genuinely anomalous. In my book Disclosure: They Are Not Extraterrestrials, I treat this unexplained flight behavior as one part of a larger pattern, not as standalone proof. Disclosure is available on Amazon.
