Who Is Chuck Missler?
Chuck Missler was a Bible teacher, author, and former businessman who spent decades studying UFOs from a biblical perspective before his death in 2018. He had a background in military intelligence and defense work, and he later founded the ministry Koinonia House. In his book Alien Encounters, he argued that what people call aliens are the fallen angels of the Bible, operating in a deceptive way.
His background
Missler graduated with honors from the United States Naval Academy and later earned a master's degree in engineering at UCLA. He served as a senior analyst at a think tank that worked with the intelligence community and the Department of Defense, and he went on to a business career that included leading technology companies and serving on the boards of several public corporations.
His turn to Bible teaching
For twenty years, Missler balanced his corporate career with a weekly Bible study at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa in California. He and his wife, Nancy, eventually founded Koinonia House, and he left the business world to focus on it full time. He wrote more than 30 books on biblical and prophetic subjects.
His case on UFOs
In Alien Encounters, published in 2003 with coauthor Mark Eastman, Missler argued that the UFO phenomenon is real, that abduction experiences are demonic in nature, and that the beings connect to the sons of God described in Genesis 6. Missler did not believe that beings from other planets exist or have visited Earth in spacecraft. He placed the phenomenon into two categories, man-made or spiritual.
His public recognition
Missler was invited as a guest speaker at the 50th-anniversary UFO conference in Roswell, New Mexico, where he addressed the Phoenix Lights, the Roswell incident, and astronaut testimony. He later honored researcher L.A. Marzulli with the Gold Medallion award at a Koinonia House conference in 2014.
His later years and death
Missler's wife, Nancy, died in 2015. He retired in 2017 and died at his home in New Zealand on May 1, 2018, at the age of 83.
What is solid and what is not
Missler's military and business background, his ministry, and his book are documented. His conclusion that UFOs are fallen angels is his interpretation of Scripture, and Christians hold a range of views on the subject. In my book Disclosure: They Are Not Extraterrestrials, I present Missler as an early voice connecting the Bible to the UFO phenomenon. Disclosure is available on Amazon.
