What Is a Malaterrestrial?

By CK Quarterman

A malaterrestrial is an evil, earthbound non-human intelligence. I coined the word for my book Disclosure: They Are Not Extraterrestrials.

Term: Malaterrestrial: an evil, earthbound non-human intelligence. The term does not include the holy angels of heaven.

Term: Extraterrestrial: a being from outside the Earth, usually from another planet or star system.

Term: Watchers: the angels described in the Book of Enoch who left heaven. Many Christian writers identify them with the fallen angels of Genesis 6.

The fiction side of this idea appears in Sons of the Flood, which begins with The Giant’s Shadow.

What Is a Malaterrestrial?

A malaterrestrial is an evil, earthbound non-human intelligence. I coined the word for my book Disclosure: They Are Not Extraterrestrials. It combines mala, the Latin root behind words like malicious and malevolent, with terrestrial. I use it for the beings I believe are behind many unexplained UFO and UAP encounters. I argue they are native to this world and not visitors from other stars.

What the word means

Mala comes from Latin and means evil. Terrestrial means of the Earth. In my usage it means native to the reality that contains the Earth. The word makes two claims. The beings are not from other planets, and their contact with people has tended to cause harm. It does not include the holy angels of heaven.

Why I coined it

The usual word, extraterrestrial, points people toward the stars. It frames the subject as a question of space travel and alien biology. It also suggests neutral or friendly visitors, and the search for extraterrestrial intelligence assumes that contact would be good news. I think the record supports a different question. Instead of asking where they come from, I ask what they want.

The evidence behind it

In the book I compare the effects people report after UFO encounters with effects reported for centuries in accounts of spirit encounters. Those include burns, illness, fear, missing time, and failing machines. I also look at the names people have used for these beings over time. The Book of Enoch calls them Watchers. The Bible speaks of fallen angels. Medieval writers spoke of demons. Recent congressional proposals and some whistleblowers use the phrase non-human intelligence. My argument is that these labels describe one class of beings.

Where the idea has limits

The word contains a conclusion. Not everyone who reports a contact experience describes harm, and some describe kindness or wonder. Most UFO reports turn out to be balloons, planets, and aircraft, so the term applies at most to the cases that stay unexplained. The parallels I draw between UFO effects and older spirit accounts also have other possible explanations, such as sleep paralysis and the body’s response to fear. The judgment that these beings are evil rests on Scripture and on the pattern in the reports, and readers who do not accept Scripture will weigh it differently.

What is solid and what is not

The word is my own coinage, and it is a proposal. The reports of harm, the older accounts, and the many names are documented. Whether they describe a single class of beings is my interpretation, and I present it as a hypothesis. It is not an accepted scientific category. Disclosure is available on Amazon.
