Antediluvian

The antediluvian era spans the whole of Genesis 1 through 6, from the creation of Adam to the flood that ends the age. By the Genesis 5 genealogies it lasted 1,656 years, longer than the Roman Empire and longer than the United States has existed. Genesis 4 credits the period with real cultural achievements, including metalworking and music, and Genesis 6 records its defining event: the union of the sons of God and the daughters of men, which produces the Nephilim. The era closes with a documented, measurable collapse in human lifespan recorded in Genesis 11, marking a clear boundary between the pre-flood and post-flood world.
